The most common trees in Clara's Woods are oaks and hickories. There are 6 to 8 species of oaks, including pin oak and white oak. The 3 species of hickory are bitternut hickory, pignut hickory, and mockernut.

Some of the largest trees in Clara's Woods are Tulip trees, so named because of the shape of their leaves (see picture at the top of the page). There are only 2 species of Tulip tree in the world, one in eastern Asia and the other in North America.
