Clara's Woods is home to many species of animals. You can explore species seen here in iNaturalist and in eBird. With some patience and practice, you too can contribute to these citizen-science projects and help us understand and document the diversity of species in Clara's Woods.

Eastern Comma is a butterfly species. It's distinguished from the similar Question Mark by a comma-shaped mark on the underside of its wing (not shown in this picture). Adults feed on tree sap and rotting fruit; this one was observed on 27 March 2020.

Great Horned Owl
These Great Horned Owl chicks fledged in a nest in Clara's Woods in 2015. The nest was first noticed in mid-January, the first chick was seen in early April, and the chicks left the nest and began clambering on nearby branches later that month. This picture was taken on May 2nd. Another fledgling was observed in 2020, and two fledglings were observed in April 2022.

Over 100 species of birds have been observed in Clara's Woods. You can explore them in this eBird hotspot page, which also includes photos of more than 50 bird species taken in Clara's Woods. If you see a bird in Clara's Woods, and identify it, please submit your observation at eBird. If you identify any other species, please upload your observation to iNaturalist.
